Origins of Ynyscedwyn Primary School, Ystradgynlais

The date stone for Ynyscedwyn Primary School reads 1906, set high up on the side of the school facing towards the river.

The main school building has been bought by David and Helen Pickering of Classy Curtains Limited, to use both as a family house and as the main premises for their business.

The 'School - Keep - Clear' markings outside the front of the school, on the road that runs alongside the river.

This building may well have been the original toilets for the school, which in those days would always have been built as an outbuilding.

This 'Emergency Exit Route' map shows a basic plan of the main school building (lower) as it was at the time of the school's closure in 2013.
