John Brinley Evans Remembered

Group Captain John Brinley Evans, O.B.E., was born in 1909 and died in 1970. He was Rectors Warden of Saint Cynog's Church, Ystradgynlais, from 1966-1968. He is buried in Saint Cynog's graveyard, just off the path as you walk the back way to the Church Hall, and is remembered in a pair of memorial windows at the rear right of the church. These feature the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, rendered as "Saint Michael" on the left, and "Saint Gabriel" on the right. The memorial inscription, unusually, runs across the two windows.

The inscription reads as follows (with /indicating where there is a break):-

To The Glory of God And In / Loving Memory of Group Captain
John Brinley Evans, O.B.E., R.A.F. / 1909-1970. Rector's Warden 1966-1968.

The grave in Saint Cynog's graveyard reads:-
